Healthcare Data Engineer

Your role is to elevate healthcare data management, integrate Tableau dashboards into client applications, establish data quality standards, and construct data pipelines. Responsibilities:
- Data Management: Own and manage the database, maintaining a data dictionary and ensuring data accessibility for stakeholders.
- HIPAA Compliance: Stay updated with HIPAA Compliance standards and data privacy, ensuring the secure handling of sensitive patient data.
- Data Quality Assurance: Investigate and resolve anomalies in data, ensuring data quality and reliability.
- Data Set Creation and Optimization: Build and optimize data sets for analytics, focusing on production-level tables for improved visualization.
- Tableau Expertise: Utilize Tableau and its API to optimize data visualizations and manage data sources.
- RedShift Implementation: Implement and leverage Amazon RedShift for efficient data warehousing.
- Database Strategy and Collaboration: Collaborate with software engineers to develop and implement an efficient database architecture.
- System Architecture Evaluation: Continually analyze the database and system architecture, making recommendations for improvements and optimizations.
- External Data Integration: Explore possibilities for connecting to EHRs and external databases to enrich data sources.
- Dashboard Integration: Work closely with engineering and product teams to integrate Tableau dashboards and workbooks into client applications.
- Data Pipeline Management: Design, construct, and manage data pipelines, documenting the process for compliance and reporting.
- Data Quality Standards: Establish and uphold data quality standards and best practices.
- Data Quality Assessments: Conduct data quality assessments to ensure the accuracy and reliability of healthcare data from various sources.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or other related field.
- Proven expertise in ETL, data preparation, and data engineering.
- Technical proficiency in SQL, Python, AWS (including Redshift), Tableau, and data integration tools. Certifications are a plus!
- Knowledge of PHI, HIPAA compliance, the FHIR standard for exchanging healthcare information electronically, and the healthcare industry.
- Data quality and governance proficiency.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaboration experience with cross-functional teams.
- Process development for SOPs and data quality best practices.
- SQL mapping proficiency for data transformation.
- Proficiency in English at a B2-C2 level. Certifications and/or endorsements are a plus.
- Experience working with U.S. companies.
- Ability to work in U.S. time zones, with a preference for Eastern Standard Time (EST).
