Our founder, James, started OneSeven over six years ago after his experience hiring an offshore agency for his pre-seed Ed-Tech startup. The project was unsuccessful due to communication issues, conflicting time zones, and scope creep. Since then, he built OneSeven and tailored our services to support startup founders in need of high-quality software development.
The role: We are looking for a seasoned Fullstack Ruby on Rails developer to join our development team. We are a competitive agency that is looking for great talent in order to build even better products for our clients. You will be working within our development team to contribute to clients' web and mobile applications.
About You:
- Fluent in English (important)
- 2-5 years of experience building B2B/B2C software.
- Excellent code practices
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong mentoring and code review skills
- Agile + Scrum Methodology experience
- Ability to quickly adapt, learn, and problem solve
- Team player, willing to jump outside of their role to help the greater team.
- Ability to research as you work.

- We work in two-week sprints and 1 month feature releases.
- The ability to follow common Agile practices (daily async standups, sprint groomings, and retros). We’re always looking to improve how we function as a team.
- You will need to provide your own workspace with reliable Internet service.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Develop and deploy Ruby on Rails (monolith) backend code with our web and mobile applications. You'll be working closely to other fullstack developers.
- Share knowledge of the best software development practices
- Experience Ruby on Rails 6.1 or newer.
- Expertise writing and integrating REST API’s
- GIT + Github Experience
- Experience working with Linux OS is a must.
- Experience with mySQL is a must.
- Experience with PostgreSQL is preferred.
- Experience working with Docker is preferred.
- Experience with Terraform is preferred.
- Experience with unit testing (rspec) is preferred.
- Experience with AWS is preferred.
- Experience with CI/CD
- Thorough understanding of React.js and its core principles.
- Experience with typescript is required
- Experience with Material UI is required
- Knowledge of modern authorization mechanisms, such as JSON Web Token
