OneSeven Tech (OST) is seeking a motivated Business Development Representative (BDR) to join our growing team. We know that the key to growth is a high-performing sales engine, and as an BDR you’ll be on the front line of that mission. You’ll be responsible for finding and qualifying potential customers, building relationships, and setting up our sales team for success by creating a strong pipeline of opportunities.

About the Role

As a BDR at OST, you'll own the top of the sales funnel: researching target markets, identifying potential customers, and initiating contact to create qualified meetings for our Founder/CEO. You'll act as the bridge between marketing and sales, turning outbound prospecting into sales-ready leads.

This is not a "dial 500 numbers and hope for the best" role. We sell to VPs of Engineering, CTOs, and technical leaders at established B2B SaaS companies. You'll need to be strategic, do your research, and have thoughtful conversations — not just blast generic messages.

Career Progression Path

Phase 1: Staff Augmentation (Months 1-4)

  • Focus on our most straightforward service
  • Predictable lead sources (LinkedIn job postings, job boards)
  • Learn OST's sales process, ICP, and value proposition
  • Build a repeatable outbound motion

Phase 2: AI Transformation Consulting (Months 4+)

  • Graduate to selling higher-value consulting engagements
  • Target mid-market companies in regulated industries (healthcare, legal, etc.)
  • Longer sales cycles, more strategic conversations
  • Develop consultative selling skills

Phase 3: CodeOps Software (Months 12+)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and target prospective clients, specifically:
    • Private Equity (PE) firms for due diligence.
    • Engineering leadership.
  • Sell OST's software product, which focuses on tech debt analysis and code health.
  • Focus on established businesses utilizing older technology ("brownfield" platforms) that are in need of:
    • A comprehensive platform audit to inform digital transformation efforts and resolve existing technical debt.
    • An assessment to determine their readiness for an AI transformation                                                                                                                                                                                                       

Responsibilities

Prospecting & Research

  • Identify target accounts that match our ICP using LinkedIn, job boards, and sales databases
  • Research companies posting engineering jobs to identify urgent hiring needs
  • Build and maintain prospect lists with accurate contact information in CRM pipeline
  • Track buying signals (funding announcements, job postings, leadership changes)

Outbound Outreach

  • Execute multi-channel outreach: cold email, LinkedIn, and cold calling
  • Personalize messaging based on prospect research (not generic templates)
  • Manage cold email campaigns using our infrastructure (30 domains, 1,500+ emails/day capacity)
  • Run LinkedIn automation sequences and engage with prospects
  • Make cold calls to warm up prospects and book meetings

Lead Qualification

  • Qualify leads using our criteria: budget, need, timeline, team structure, and fit
  • Disqualify bad fits quickly (early-stage startups, no developers, no product-market fit)
  • Book discovery meetings for qualified opportunities
  • Prepare meeting briefs with research and context for the Founder

CRM & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of all activities, contacts, and opportunities in CRM (currently Pipedrive) 
  • Track outreach metrics: emails sent, response rates, meetings booked
  • Report weekly on pipeline, experiments, and learnings

Collaboration & Iteration

  • Run 2-3 outreach experiments per week and share results
  • Collaborate with leadership to refine messaging, ICPs, and targeting
  • Share prospect feedback to improve our positioning and offers

Requirements

Must Have

  • Fluent English (written and verbal) — You'll be calling and emailing US-based executives
  • 3+ years in a sales, SDR/BDR, or customer-facing role
  • Excellent at email campaigns and follow-up — You'll manage multi-step sequences, write compelling copy, and never let a warm lead go cold
  • Fast responder — When a prospect replies, you reply within minutes, not hours
  • Obsessive about CRM hygiene — You keep our CRM clean, up-to-date, and accurate at all times. No messy data, no forgotten follow-ups
  • High resilience and comfort with rejection — Cold outreach means lots of "no" before "yes"
  • Strong written communication — Ability to write compelling, personalized outreach
  • Self-starter mentality — You'll be building this function, not following a playbook
  • Available to work US hours (9am-5pm EST)
  • Basic understanding of B2B SaaS and software development — You don't need to code, but you need to understand who builds software and why

Nice to Have

  • Experience selling technical services (staff augmentation, consulting, software development)
  • Experience with cold email tools (Instantly, Apollo, Lemlist)
  • Experience with LinkedIn automation (Meet Alfred, Hey Reach, Dripify)
  • CRM experience 
  • Understanding of AI/ML landscape and terminology
  • Previous experience at a digital agency or software consultancy

  • AI Assistants: Claude, ChatGPT for research and messaging

Benefits/Compensation

Fully Remote Position

Contract-based employment with U.S. company

Compensation: $1,000–$2,500 per month 

Qualified Meeting Bonus: Bonus for each qualified meeting booked that meets ICP criteria

Closed Deal Bonus: Additional bonus when booked meetings convert to signed contracts
