Project Brief
We're building an AI voice agent that handles 14,000+ inbound calls per month for a real estate law firm — answering questions, verifying caller identity, routing to the right staff, and escalating when needed. The agent needs to sound warm and professional, enforce strict compliance rules, and never provide legal advice. This is a production-grade conversational AI project where prompt quality, workflow design, and telephony integration all matter equally.
Must-Haves
- LLM prompt engineering — designing, testing, and iterating on prompts that control agent behavior in production (voice/phone context strongly preferred over chatbot-only experience)
- Conversational AI workflow design — multi-step flows with branching logic, intent detection, and error handling
- Experience with at least one voice AI or conversational AI platform — Retell, Vapi, Bland, Voiceflow, Amazon Connect, Twilio Voice, or similar
- Experience working with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar) — model selection, token cost management, and latency tradeoffs
- Detail-oriented mindset — a small prompt change can cause the agent to disclose sensitive information or sound robotic. Precision matters.
- Professional English proficiency — clear written communication in Slack and async updates
Nice to Have
- Experience with ElevenLabs or similar TTS platforms
- Compliance-sensitive AI design — experience building systems where the AI must enforce rules about what it can and cannot say (healthcare, finance, legal, or similar regulated domains)
- Familiarity with telephony concepts — PBX routing, PSTN call transfers, SIP
- Experience setting up call analytics — scoring, sentiment analysis, intent categorization, and accuracy monitoring
- Background in real estate, legal, or other high-compliance industries
What You Will Do
- Configure and tune the AI voice agent on the Retell platform — conversation flows for call greeting, intent detection, caller routing, wire verification, closing date inquiries, and escalation handling
- Write and iterate on LLM prompts that control the agent's personality, decision-making, and compliance behavior
- Design multi-step conversation workflows with branching logic (e.g. caller asks about wire instructions → verify identity → look up file → confirm or escalate)
- Configure the agent's knowledge base — staff directories, office information, FAQs, and process explanations
- Work on the telephony integration layer — understanding how calls route from the PBX through to the agent and how the agent transfers calls back to specific extensions
- Own the analytics and quality layer — call scoring, sentiment analysis, intent categorization, and accuracy monitoring using Retell's analytics and custom tooling
- Collaborate closely with the backend engineer who builds the APIs the agent calls, and with the technical lead
